The data team at Kami is an exciting phase. As our company expands rapidly, so are our customers’ and colleagues’ needs for timely and high-quality data-based insights, so we’re scaling up our operations significantly to keep up. In pursuit of this mission, we’re looking for experienced data analysts, scientists and engineers to build our data stack to support Kami’s ambitious goals.

Your day to day
  • Develop and own data models to be building blocks that enable educational and business insights
  • Design and prototype reports for educators to help them understand their students’ progress and challenges
  • Produce analysis to help colleagues understand our performance and areas of potential business growth
  • Develop and codify best practice guides to support team members’ data and analytics work
  • Contribute to the design of a new data stack and lead the deployment of business intelligence components
  • Coach and mentor junior team members to develop their skills and instincts for data science and analytics
  • Engage with educators to understand their needs and feedback
  • Work closely with data engineers and product engineers to design and build data frameworks and integrations
  • Work closely with our sales and marketing teams to understand customer and business needs
what you’ll bring
  • 5+ years of relevant experience or postgraduate-level education (combined) in data, analytics, or another heavily quantitative discipline (e.g. statistics, engineering, a natural or social science)
  • Excellent software practice, preferably (but not necessarily) in a technical computing language such as Python/Numpy, R or Julia
  • Sharp instinct for statistical principles, with an ability to critique and refine analyses, and explain them to lay audiences
  • Willingness to operate, in the short-term, with more primitive tools like SQL and Jupyter while we roll out new platforms
  • Eagerness to learn new languages, frameworks and technologies
  • Intellectual curiosity, humility and global-mindedness: we work with all kinds of educators and students from all over the world
  • Positive, can-do, eager-to-help attitude
  • Interest in managerial roles as part of your near-future career progression
  • Experience with data visualisation and/or business intelligence tools is advantageous but not essential
  • Experience or interest in education, social science, sales and/or business analysis is a bonus
  • We use Ruby on Rails and ClickHouse, so experience in these or similar technologies is advantageous, but we’ll bring the successful candidate up to speed with these
