English Language Learning with Kami
TRANSCRIPT
Intro
Hey there — I’m Nicole.
I’m a high school teacher for English Language Learners, and I’m here to share some top tips for using Kami in the ELL classroom.
Let’s get started.
Using Kami
Using Kami is a great way to create engaging visual aids to improve your students’ understanding and retention. When creating content, head to Add Media to bring in a variety of material from your computer, Google Images, or YouTube. YouTube clips are perfect for increasing your students’ cultural knowledge or for helping them perfect their pronunciation.
Finding time to test speaking and listening skills and provide personalized feedback can be a struggle. Kami’s Comment tool makes it so much easier. Video Comments are ideal for testing your students’ speaking skills because you can be sure they’re forming sentences from memory. For listening tasks, you can record a voice comment for your students and speak at just the right speed. You’ll only need to speak once, and they can listen to it as many times as needed.
Reading
If your students are reading and get stuck on difficult language, they don’t need to wait for your help. Once you’ve uploaded a scanned document or image, the whole text becomes interactive with Text Recognition. Then, using Read Aloud, students can select any word, phrase, or passage to be read to them out loud.
Kami is an excellent option for enriching your ELL lessons and improving the learning experience for all your students.
If you’re an ELL teacher and you’re not using Kami, now’s the time to start!
