Senior Front-End Engineer

Location: Auckland, New Zealand
Reports to: Chief Technology Officer

We are looking for talented developers who love to create amazing web experiences to join us at Kami, one of NZ’s fastest-growing startups. We’re helping over a million teachers and students eliminate printing and scanning and the associated costs and effort - so our teachers can spend more of their time on achieving better learning outcomes for the next generation.

At Kami, we don’t believe in keeping our engineers locked in the backroom implementing specs sheets - you’ll be talking to the teachers who already love our product, and figuring out how to make Kami work even better in their classrooms. This position will suit an Engineer with a good product sense and is comfortable working relatively autonomously.

Most of our users are based in the US, and there may be occasional travel to attend conferences and visit schools using our software, which is a lot of fun! ( See the wrapup from our last conference in Chicago, IL)

We are a Premier Google partner and work closely with Google product and Cloud Platform teams.

Our office is in Central Auckland, New Zealand (with great public transport connections), and this position is local.


WHAT KAMI IS LOOKING FOR:

  • Proficiency with Javascript, HTML, CSS, and experience working with large Single Page Applications (SPAs). Experience with frontend frameworks/libraries, e.g Angular, React.
  • Strong product sense and ability to work with our customers to design Kami.
  • Experience with developing high-performance frontend code, profiling with Chrome Developer tools.
  • Appetite to learn new languages and technologies - We adopt the latest tech fast, including Service Workers, Native Client, and real-time communication in our app (Most of our users are on evergreen browsers, so we get to use the new web technologies).
  • This is primarily a front-end engineering position, however we use Ruby, Java, Kubernetes (with GKE), PostgreSQL, and ElasticSearch in our backend and experience with them is a bonus.

Sales Development Representative

Kami is the world-wide No.1 classroom annotation application for Chrome and other platforms. It works instantly through a seamless integration with G Suite, has a beautiful UX users love, and is designed to help teachers and students interact for personalised. Kami serves more than 30,000 schools in more than 110 countries.

Customers love our product and we need talented Sales Development Representatives to bring our vision and service for a better way of learning to sell to the millions of users trialling our free basic plan. The Sales Development Representative will make outbound calls and emails, qualify leads, and determine next steps, before passing them over to an Account Executive. Persistence, resilience, discipline and drive are a requirement for success in this role and at Kami, successful SDRs find quick advancement within the sales team.

A day in the life...

  • Interact with prospects via telephone and email
  • Research companies, identify key contacts, generate interest, and develop accounts
  • Manage prospect inquiries and overcome objections
  • Become a trusted resource for prospects
  • Employ and optimize repeatable sales technique
  • Provide feedback to sales leaders to ensure constant process improvement
  • Consistently achieve lead conversion targets

What we are looking for:

  • Ability to work in a high-intensity sales environment
  • Passion for educating customers on CRM and sales processes
  • Consultative sales approach and ability to control a conversation
  • The skills to clearly articulate product value and benefits
  • A knack for asking great questions to uncover problems with a prospect’s current environment
  • Edtech training and usage experience a plus
  • College degree
  • A self-starter with a track record of success
  • Team player
  • You’re well-versed in Edtech platforms , Google Classroom, Schoology, Canvas, etc.
