Kami for accessibility
TRANSCRIPT
Intro
Finding the time and the tools to accommodate the unique needs of every student can be a real challenge. Kami makes it easier by providing universal accommodations for all your students so everyone can learn, participate, and feel part of the class. And with Kami, you’ll have more time to give your students the personalized learning they need.
Let’s check it out!
Accessibility
Every teacher knows that PDFs are notoriously inaccessible, so those resources need to be user-friendly from the get-go. Text Recognition turns documents into accessible electronic resources that everyone can use. For students who are blind, have low vision, or visual processing disorders, Kami has the tools they need to succeed. Dyslexia fonts help to improve reading fluency. Dark mode reduces visual strain. Graphic organizers help students better understand information, and Voice Typing (also known as speech-to-text) allows students to complete work more easily.
Read Aloud enables students to comprehend content without having to read it for themselves. There’s speed, pitch, and accent options to suit their needs.

For students who require a bit more help to focus, we have some great concentration aids. The Box Highlighter can be used to create cover overlays or focus lines. The Shapes Tool can create reading masks or shorten assignments. Extra visuals such as images, videos, and stickers can be added to written instructions to help illustrate the task. And of course, teacher favorite: Feature Control! It allows you to turn tools on and off to keep students focused.
For students who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have auditory processing disorders, Kami has the tools to help them, including closed captions for all our video and audio comments and multimedia options like videos or images. Text, screen capture, and video comments are great for visual cues and sign language communication.
Communication
With more than 40 tools, Kami gives every student voice and choice with how they show their learning. This is incredibly beneficial for collaborative work, as students can contribute in ways that work best for them. And with everyone using the same platform, everyone feels included.
Individualization
If you’re ever struggling to find time to individualize and differentiate every lesson, Kami’s got your back. Starting with Split and Merge, you can quickly create tailored assignments for groups of students with similar learning needs. From here, you can use Class View to see and edit every student’s work in one place. This lets you add any supports or scaffolds in a fraction of the time.
You can also differentiate how you provide instruction with all the different Kami tools. Once students are working on a document, you can jump in and provide support in real time. Whether it’s a helpful prompt like a sentence starter or extra supports, everything is at your fingertips. You can also engage in richer, more meaningful discussions with your students using voice or video comments.
And there you have it. Kami offers a new world of possibilities for you and your exceptional learners. Let’s make learning accessible and fun for everyone!
