How to use Kami Companion Voice typing
Transcript
The Kami Companion Voice typing tool: your go-to for speech-to-text support anywhere students write online. It helps learners speak into their computer and see their words appear as typed text in real time, including voice punctuation and support for 125 languages.
Use it when students have ideas to share but need support getting words onto the page, especially during emails, LMS messages, drafts, and writing tasks across supported websites.
In this video, you’ll learn how to:
💚 Open the Kami extension and select Show Companion
💚 Find and open the Voice typing tool in the Companion toolbar
💚 Choose a Voice typing language in Settings
💚 Turn the Voice typing pal on or off to track when Voice typing is active
💚 Use Voice typing to write in an LMS inbox or message field
💚 Turn on voice punctuation and speak commands like period and question mark
💚 Use Voice typing in Google Docs and compare it to the default voice typing experience
These supports can help multilingual learners and students who benefit from learning supports write more independently and fluently, without losing their train of thought.
